About this Marathon

Marathon Tours is an official International Tour Operator for the BMW Berlin Marathon – and has been taking runners to Berlin for the past 12 years!  

The BMW Berlin Marathon is one of the seven World Marathon Majors! Each year runners continue to flock to Berlin to experience one of the best organised marathons in the world!

So join 50,000 other runners from all over the world and experience what it feels like to be a celebrity with over 1 million spectators cheering you on!

Marathon Tours has a limited number of packages available to this amazing event.

Race Start Time: 9:15am (Non-elite runners – 4 starting waves)

Starting times correspond to to your wave, which is noted on your race bib – and are as follows:

  • 9:15am Waves A, B, C & D
  • 9:45am Waves E & F
  • 10:10am Waves G, H, & J
  • 10:40am Wave K

Cut-off Time: The BMW Berlin Marathon has a cut-off time of 6 hours and 15 minutes (Which starts when you crossing the starting mat)

There will also be another 2 cut-off points along the course:

  • At the 33rd kilometer 3:50pm
  • At the 38th kilometer 4:35pm

Qualifying Times: There are no qualifying times for the BMW Berlin Marathon, but runners are required to be at least 18 years old to be eligible to compete

Course: Participants will run through the most scenic sites of Berlin. Including the Reichstag, the Siegessaule, Berliner Dom, Brandenburg, and Potsdamer Platz. The BMW Berlin Marathon is known as a flat and fast course – this course will take you through basically the whole city with very few turns. The finish line of the BMW Berlin Marathon is incredible as you run through the historic and iconic Brandenburg Gate.

Aid Stations: There will be numerous aid stations along the course:

  • Water stations along the course at 5km, 12km, 17.5km, 22.5km, 27.5km, 32.5km, 34.5km, 38km, and 4okm
  • Water, fruit, tea and Maurten DRINK MIX 160 will be at the stations at 9km, 15km, 20km, 25km, 30km, and 36km
  • Maurten Gel 100 can be found at 27.5km aid station
  • All drinks are served in cups

Expo:

The BMW Berlin Expo (Expo BERLIN VITAL Fall) is held at the former Airport Tempelhof (Platz der Luftbrucke5, 12101 Berlin)

Opening dates and times:

  • Thursday 18th September – 2pm to 8pm
  • Friday 19th September – 11am to 8pm
  • Saturday 20th September – 9am to 6:30pm

Weather Conditions: The average temperature in Berlin in September is between 11-19 degrees Celsius
